STAGE 2 : Journey to the land of yellow wine and lakes

We told you about it a while ago, the FORESTICME, our 3-day cycling raid in the Ain and the Jura, will take place on 24.25.26 June 2022. And for the occasion we propose a series “On the roads of the Forest’Cime” to make you discover the most beautiful places of the route in the heart of the Ain and Jura Mountains.

Today, the tourist spots of stage 2 are in the spotlight! Before embarking on this journey to the land of yellow wine and lakes, don’t hesitate to have a look at the article dedicated to stage 1.

BEAUME-LES-MESSIEURS

After a good night’s sleep at the Centre Nautique de Bellecin (which will be presented in more detail in stage 3), you will take the road towards Beaume-les-Messieurs. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, this place is amazing at any time of the year. In winter, the early morning mist and the mysterious light make it look like something out of a fantasy.

TUFS WATERFALL

Once you’ve had your fill of the view, it’s time to get closer to a must-see in the Haut-Jura regional nature park: the Tufs waterfall!  These waterfalls are incredible in all seasons: frozen in winter, turbulent in rainy weather and energising in summer. The landscape of this waterfall will take your breath away.

CHÂTEAU-CHALON

Not far from there, you will find on your way Château-Chalon, considered as the lighthouse of the Jura vineyard. In the cradle of the famous Vin Jaune, legends and stories intermingle to give all its fame to one of the “Most beautiful villages of France”. Between cultural heritage and gastronomy, vineyards and majestic secluded areas, this magnificent village has not finished surprising you.

THE 3 LAKES

Finally, you will have to take the lake route before returning to your accommodation with the programme of 3 lakes of the famous belvedere of the 4 lakes: the lake of Chalain known for its turquoise water as a heritage of its geological past, the lake of Ilay with its island and its cliffs and finally the lake of Narlay considered as one of the deepest of the Jura.
